SANDSTONE POINT HOLIDAY PARK
Just 50 mins from either Brisbane airport and Sunshine Coast is the brand new Big 4 holiday resort. Paul was working in Brisbane this weekend so I took the opportunity to have a few days away with the kids and get out of the Melbourne cold.
Just wow. The resort facilities include a water park, a huge 500sqm pool with a wading area for small children, playground, jumping pillow, gym, tennis court, basketball court, kids games rooms and more.
They have villas, glamping options and camp/caravan sites and for our stay, we were in a 2 bedroom villa overlooking the pool and waterpark. It was stunning, beautifully clean and brand new. The real point of difference to other big 4s is the level of luxury. The villas wouldn’t be out of place in an interior design magazine and are very “Instagram-able”. The communal bbq areas feel like the alfresco dining area at a hip restaurant with a range of different designer furniture and festoon lighting.
The resort has a bar and restaurant that is open for lunch every day and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, along with a convenient store for grocery essentials. There are multiple communal bbq and kitchen areas and the whole resort had a great family holiday vibe. Just as I remember as a kid.
Just 200m away is the ever-popular Sandstone Point Hotel and this was my kind of place. Set on a huge green space on the water edge, with deck chairs, umbrellas, bar and restaurant, a petting farm for the kids, kids games room and playground, themed events, concerts and festivals, it’s a local favourite and a highlight for visitors. The fresh seafood had me returning daily.
There was plenty to do in the surrounding areas but honestly, we didn’t have to leave. So other than a short trip to neighbouring Bribie Island, we stayed put at this amazing resort. During the school holidays, they have lots of activities for the kids too like horse rides, movie nights and competitions.
Downfalls? Pretty hard to fault but if I’m nitpicking, the waterpark wasn’t heated but it didn’t stop the kids and the main pool is heated so no biggy. It was 24 degrees in the middle of winter, the sun was shining and we had a brilliant stay.
This one is a winner!
FYI- Kids stay free May June and July.
